Members & Friends,
This month’s event is titled: Active fire protection, principles and paramount’s
Wed 25 April 2018
17:30 – 20:30
Bangers, 2-12 Wilson Street, London, EC2M 2TE
Fire systems used to be generic: detectors, and – if you needed an active protection system – either sprinklers or halon.
A lot has changed since then, but few think through the steps to ensure the best solution for a specific situation. This will provide an understanding.
Furthermore, there are some low value but highly inconvenient aspects that some contractors find it easier to exclude, often to another party’s peril.
This presentation will look at:
- Why use a gaseous extinguishing system
- How the different gases work
- The stages of operation
- Post event recovery
Our speaker; Chris Downing, is a Chartered Construction Manager, Chris started in fire protection over 25 years, as a stop gap, and remains heavily involved today. Working for Siemens but also representing industry and a keen participant in the authoring of Standards, he will hopefully impart insight into the generics as well as the salient parts often overlooked.
