BANG Monthly Event
Date: 25th October 2017
Venue: Bangers, 12 Wilson Street, London. EC2M 2TE
BANG Members & Friends,
Our speaker for this event is Sarah Schubert, someone who previously worked in client relationship management and business development roles for major engineering consultancies, and has made a career change into organisational resilience.
She has recently completed an MSc in Risk, Disaster and Resilience at University College London (UCL), where BANG (Business And National Government) Members kindly supported her by providing data for her dissertation, and she is now delighted to present her findings in the hope that it will be useful in informing members about her results and about the future for this subject matter.
Sarah’s presentation is titled: Resilience standards – a panacea for organisational resilience?
The presentation will cover the growing uncertainty and increased vulnerability resulting from global community interdependencies and interconnectedness that have led to the concept of organizational resilience gaining currency. It has been found to be an intrinsic necessity for societal resilience, and has been highlighted by a range of significant events, such as the global financial crisis. These events have acted as a catalyst for delivering regulatory changes and introducing resilience-specific standards, having examined the use of resilience standards within organizations, the foundational principles within these standards, and how this effects Business Continuity Management (BCM), and subsequently influences resilience professionals’ perceptions about their organisation’s resilience.
The question raised by her research questions are whether resilience standards themselves are not a panacea for organisational resilience, and what are the vital foundational principles that provide an organisational resilience framework? This, and many more questions will be answered on the 25th October 2017 at BANGERS!
Look forward to seeing you on the night,
